The Republicans have proposed cutting the state income tax completely. While that sounds good for hard-working Oklahomans, in effect, teachers would be paying the same tax rate as the oil and gas industry, since sales tax would be the primary state income tax left.  Large industries and “big box” companies should be required to pay their income taxes for the benefit of Oklahoma health care, education, roads, and other public programs.
